KCCRT provides essential services such as assessments, crisis intervention, service collaboration, and system development in the aftermath of disasters. We work closely with the Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (BHDID), which coordinates state-led disaster mental health services. BHDID administers FEMA Crisis Counseling grants following a Presidential Declaration, in partnership with local and regional mental health providers.

Project Recovery Kentucky 

​​Project Recovery Kentucky is a statewide disaster behavioral health outreach and​ crisis counseling program that supports individuals, families, and communities as they recover from natural disasters and other emergencies. Through free, confidential, and short-term services, trained crisis counselors provide emotional support, practical coping tools, and connections to local resources to help people manage stress, grief, and disruption following events such as floods, tornadoes, or severe storms. Funded during times of federal disaster declaration through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and implemented in partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Project Recovery Kentucky focuses on building resilience, restoring a sense of safety and stability, and helping communities move forward together after disaster.​
